Welcome to Dawn of Sound, a blog about vintage audio recordings and the artists who made them. Most of the recordings found here are transfers struck from my own collection which spans the early acoustic era through to the early years of electrical (microphone) recording.
These vintage recordings give us a fascinating glimpse of popular culture as it was at the turn of the last century. They preserve for us the voices that pioneered the recording industry, some which are still known by name today but many which have now been forgotten. I hope you enjoy this trip through the early years of recorded sound.
Please note that some vintage recordings reflect social views which are not acceptable by today’s standards. These recordings are presented here for curiosity and historical purposes only and are not intended to offend and do not reflect the views of the Webmaster.
